How could David – the boy who tended sheep & tore a lion apart
Be considered a man after God’s own heart?
Anointed to be king, & with (God’s) strength, slew Goliath the Philistine
Still, he was a very blemished human being.
He gave into temptation & took the census of Israel (1 Chron 21:1)
He should have been condemned to Hell!
Slept with Bathsheba, & killed Uriah
Didn’t he deserve to become a pariah?
David, even with his many flaws
Delighted in & meditated on God’s law (Psalm 119:47-48)
He had faith & repented of all the mistakes
Sinfulness truly made his heart ache (Psalm 51)
Don’t forget, the king was always filled with gratitude (Psalm 9:1, 100:1, 126:6-7, 138:1)
The Lord must’ve been pleased with his overall aptitude
Even though he made decisions that weren’t so smart
David The Shepherd Boy, was still a man after God’s own heart.
