Write something that takes place at a park at night and includes the following:
the color yellow
a lyric from your favorite song
“Will you ever get this park cleaned? You’re going to get fired”.
“No. I don’t see the point”.
Elijah’s sister groaned. “If you don’t clean up this mess, I’m calling the people from Hoarders“.
“That show’s cancelled. Where have you been, Rachel? Even better, why are you here?”
“It’s 8pm. It’s closing time & I’m here to pick you up. You know what, never mind, find your way home”.
She rolled her eyes and left him sitting in the grass.
His eyes darted around his surroundings. It really was disgusting, and he really was going to get fired soon. Piles of dirty plates and empty wrappers, and the bench stain where Siobhan spilt coffee was going 5 weeks strong. Siobhan. He couldn’t think of her without experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. It was only 5 weeks ago she sat on that same bench, and told him that they couldn’t be friends any longer. Before that, he confessed how much he loved her and that he wanted a future with her.
“I don’t feel that way,” said Siobhan, “I love Logan, you know that”.
“He doesn’t treat you right. He won’t even tell people that you’re his girlfriend. I’d never be embarrassed to show the world that I was fortunate enough to be with someone like you”.
“Elijah, you just don’t understand”.
…Cause it’s too important
To stay the way it’s been …
The sound of that record in the distance couldn’t have played a worse tune. It was one of their songs, they shared a special love for Death Cab For Cutie, and he felt a twinge to his very core as he remembered how they slow danced to it at the Summer Festival 4 years prior. He grimaced at the thought of Siobhan in her floral dress, with the matching yellow headband they found whilst thrift shopping.
As he laid in the grass, he closed his eyes and listened to the remainder of the song.
There’s no blame for how our love did slowly fade
And now that it’s gone it’s like it wasn’t there at all
And here I rest where disappointment and regret collide
Lying awake at night
